Should i get 2 huskies

Not to mention a traumatic experience for the dogs. My name is Stevie and I've been a Siberian Husky fan my entire life! I adopted my Siberian Husky Spartacus nine years ago!

For these nine years, I've been studying Siberian Huskies and all other wolf-like dogs and dogs who resemble wolves in appearance. I just wanted to share my love and information for these amazing working class breeds. Aside from their wolf-like looks, sociable nature, remarkable appearance, and captivating and charming personalities, huskies are also popular for their sturdy and strong physique and body and Huskies love jumping and rolling around.

They are probably one of the most energetic and active dog breeds! However, most of the time, these activities mean having fur flying around all the Huskies shed a lot. It is recommended that you groom them once a week. Huskies vary in personality like most dogs. Some are relaxed and would rather lounge with you on the couch, but remember they are naturally energetic dogs, due to their genetic code and being built for work.

And having two might be a little challenging. Patience is needed with these guys. They need a good amount of exercise and fitting that in on a daily basis could be difficult. All that energy needs to go somewhere; they need space to run around. But the beauty of having two of them is they will play with each other and help one another burn off some of that energy.

Double the Husky, double the love! They are affectionate and loving dogs. Unlike people, your dog and the new puppy or grown dog will get to sniff each other for a few minutes and the meet and greet is done. You will have to intermediate and supervise all interactions after that for a while. It is really amazing how fast they get adapted to the house rules and schedule, just by imitation.

In the first day of our new puppy she was already drinking water from Pet Water Fountain that took our two other dogs almost a week to get used to it. Puppies need lots of activities and play time otherwise they get in trouble, destroying furniture and disrupting the house.

They play hard and then sleep hard, like babies. The two dogs will get into this routine pretty fast. The puppy training will be, again, happening much faster, if you are into it. Puppy or grown dog will have the example to watch from the older friend. For example, the sit command that you use with your older dog will be imitated by the puppy very fast.

Handing out treats will make them both to sit, wait and follow the command. Way too adorable to watch too! Our puppy learned very fast how to bang the the door bell to ask to go outside. It is that simple and I know it is not simple. You need to keep a pee pad always available or you might prefer this potty training tool but the truth is that training your puppy will take time and patience.

However taking your puppy out frequently along with the existent dog will speed the process and teach the puppy what to do. This one is a huge benefit of owning two dogs for us. As we all know, dogs are pack animals and they strive when they are in a group. Have an assistant approach with another well-socialized, calm dog on a leash. When your Husky reacts to the other dog, have the other dog stop and sit. Wait until your Husky is calm then give him the high value treats.

So, are Huskies better in pairs? Alone, they are extremely susceptible to separation anxiety. There are so many similar characteristics between labradors and huskies. The Australian shepherd is another great match of the husky. Instead, put them on a leash and then go for a walk together. That walk should take about 10 minutes. But keep them separated from each other. The history of the Siberian husky explains why they are such a sociable breed.

Huskies were bred in packs up to 15 strong, living, working, playing, eating and sleeping all together closely with their human tribe, the Chukchi People. A constant companion would be ideal in this situation So what defines companion? Does your husky need another dog?

While professionals do come to the conclusion that some dogs are better in pairs especially huskies it is possible to have just one husky, and yourself. As long as your life-situation allows for you to be with him MOST of the day, every day.

There are countless examples of one person, with one husky. And it works just fine. So technically the answer is no, your husky does not necessarily need another dog, as long as you can fill that companionship gap. He will have another dog to play with, communicate and bond with. Having another husky or dog to play with all the time will mean more exercise and stimulation. Exactly what huskies need to be happy and content. Both of which are easily developed with huskies.

A second dog buddy will provide emotional support if you are out of the house for a while, and will keep your husky more at ease. All of these things are super important, and your previously trained dog will speed up the training process of a new puppy. Despite having just said everything above.
